ISO 518:2006 defines the mechanical dimensions for a standard hot shoe.
It can be used to connect external flash units, remote flash triggers or used as a mount for additional gear like spirit levels, magic arms, handles, etc.
Electrical specs are not covered and may be proprietary. If you are using flash units make sure to check for compatibility. Flash units with high trigger voltages are able to damage your camera permanently.
