 +Canon decided to deliver some DSLRs where center pin (X contact) is missing: 250D, 2000D (first generations), 4000D. Thus making "dumb" flash units incompatible and requiring additional gear/adapters to make them work again. 
 +If you buy flash gear for those cams make sure they are fully compatible with your camera or add adapters to your shopping list.

 +Later 2000D models regained the center pin. If you are about to buy a 2000D and flash unit compatibility is an issue you should take care which model/generation you get.
